Ice cream brunch? Yes.

Here at The Parlour HQ (aka our dining room table, for now) we’ve been talking about having a once-monthly Sunday ice cream brunch. I think we came up with the idea after seeing Molly Moon mention serving oatmeal topped with ice cream at one of their shops. Since we’re curious about whether this is something folks would actually be interested in, here’s a sample menu we’ve been fiddling around with:

Slow-cooked steel cut oats topped with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream and housemade preserves

Buttermilk pancakes topped with banana ice cream, pecans, and maple syrup

House granola+your choice of yogurt, non-dairy milk, or a scoop of frozen yogurt

Sourdough cinnamon rolls, seasonal scones and coffee cakes

And, of course, fresh juice, espresso drinks and hand-dripped coffees.

So what do y’all think? Would you come out for ice cream brunch? Our seating will be a bit more limited than most restaurants, so we’d probably make the hours longer than most brunch places. And in the summertime there will be plenty of room out in the plaza/in front of the shop. Let us know what you think in the comments (or if you’ve got any menu suggestions), and we’ll pick a random commenter to win a jar of our granola!

Of course, I’m inj Asheville, not Durham, but when I’m there, I would love to have brunch with you guys. It sounds great.
I’m looking forward to getting down there and seeing your new place
    Good luck.

Absolutely, one of my teens loves a chain restaurant that we once visted in Florida simpley because they combined breakfast and desset. We would defintely join you for that … Boy do I love Durham! Can’t wait.

I know you want honesty, so I have to say that you’d have to serve something closer to savory to get me out for brunch.
This does sound like excellent early supper eats for Summer days to me though.

Sounds great! When I was younger, my uncle took me to a place in Charlottesville that served a doughnut topped with ice cream. Haven’t forgotten it!

How do you NOT have a brunch when you have a restaurant in the Dirty D? LOVE!! I’ll be there with bells on. (I would second the waffles/salted caramel ice cream except make it pecan waffles. NOM).

That sounds really fun – an option for vanilla ice cream or salted butter caramel with the pancakes would be nice.

I’ll come regardless, but you know I’ll be a lot happier about it if there is Vietnames coffee ice cream involved somehow.

Sounds really interesting! I wonder if it would work out well to have a tart frozen yogurt option, to counterbalance the sweetness of the granola in the granola + frozen yogurt combo. As a general rule, we can never get enough cinnamon ice cream, so I’m all for the ice cream + oatmeal combination. I also wonder whether it would work to make a bread pudding using melted ice cream for the cream and sugar?

At first I thought you were inviting folks over to your house for brunch. Lol But seeing as you are talking about the shop, we’d definitely go! We can’t pass up a delicious weekend brunch!
